Ep. 9: Parental Loss Unplugged (Part 2):  A Gen X Journey of Losing Both Parents with Christina Lord

For the longest time, to me, surrender was giving up. It's not, it's not giving up. It's giving over to, it's an opening and allowing, and it's really quite hard to wrap your head around and to teach.

Welcome to Part 2 of this month-long series on navigating parental loss as a Gen X’er.  This week Michele sits down with Christina Lord, owner of Authentic Action Coaching, who shares her experience of navigating the loss of her parents and the impact it had on her life.

Christina discusses the differences in grieving for her mother and father, and the importance of giving herself grace and space to feel her feelings.  As Gen Xers, we often try to tough it out and do things on our own, but it's crucial to ask for help and support during times of loss.  Christina emphasizes the need for Gen Xers to learn how to connect to their grief and support each other through the process.

The conversation explores the need to prioritize healing and self-care, the challenges of navigating grief in a society that avoids the topic, and the significance of understanding the mind-body connection.  This conversation with Christina prompted a second part, which will be published in the next episode, on specific practices to support Gen X’ers in healing through the loss of our parents.

As a Resilience Expert, Mindset Coach and Breathwork Facilitator, Christina specializes in equipping and energizing Professionals to work & play in their zone of brilliance, without burning out!

Passionate about strengthening emotional and mental agility, Christina combines Energy Leadership Coaching with Breathwork and Mindfulness techniques providing a comprehensive suite of tools to navigate challenges with greater ease and flow.

Personally, Christina herself has navigated many challenging changes in her life from professional burnouts, divorce, and losing both of her parents to retraining and starting her own business. It’s from these tumultuous experiences Christina finds herself on a mission to equip people with simple yet powerful tools to prevent burnout and help people thrive rather than just survive.
