Ep. 29:  Rising from the Ashes: How Gen X’ers Can Ditch Hope, Take Action, and Breathe Fire Into 2025 (part 1 of 2)

Hope tricks us into thinking that simply “having hope” is enough . . . that if we just keep wishing for a better tomorrow, it will magically appear. ~ Michele Walter

What better way to start 2025 than to ruffle some feathers?

In this 2-part episode, Michele challenges you to start 2025 by giving up hope!

That’s right . . . ditch hope! You don’t need it . . . you really don’t.

Instead of hope, we can learn how to take wise action and breathe fire into your year and your life.

Now, a lot of Gen X’ers may be thinking that it’s crazy or defeatist to give up hope.

Afterall, Gen X’ers were raised on hope just as much as we were raised on Saturday morning cartoons and American Bandstand.

Our culture romanticizes hope through movies, books, and religious teachings.

In fact, if “hope” had an advertising agency, its slogan would probably be “Hope:  It’s the only light you need to get you through the darkness.”

But, what if we paused to reconsider whether we need hope at all . . .

what if we reconnected to our own internal light . . .

and, better yet, what if we considered whether hope does us more harm than good?

What if we asked, “what is hope really?  And why would you want to ditch it?”

Because, as you’ll learn in this week’s episode, hope pulls you away from the present and into the future . . .

it seduces you into clinging and attaching to future outcomes . . .

it takes your focus away from what you can do at any given moment . . .

and, most of all, it tricks you into believing the illusion that you can find certainty and control in a life that is anything but certain or within your full control.

Tune in this week to learn:

🗝️ what hope really is, and

🗝️ the five problems with hope.

And remember to come back next week for Part 2, where Michele shares her personal story of deciding to give up hope and, instead, focus on three sources of power that will allow her (and you) to breathe fire into 2025 and beyond.
