Feeling angry, sad, stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious about the 2024 elections?

Look . . . whatever you’re experiencing around the elections isn’t just caused by the elections.  There’s an undercurrent in which we’ve been getting swept away for quite some time now.  It just gets exacerbated during the elections.  

And although there are lots of great tips out there to distract yourself from whatever you’re feeling around the elections (like watching cute puppy videos and staying off social media), I want to give you 5 mindfulness tips that you can use as your own survival guide during the elections and beyond.  

Because here’s the thing:  Before you go out in the world and react to other people or their actions, you have to start with yourself.  

You have to know how to regulate your own damn self before you even engage with the rest of the world or do the kind of work that you want to do, whether that’s advocacy work or the daily work of living!   

You have to find ways to respond wisely rather than reacting unwisely.  

You have to know how to regulate your own nervous system and get out of survival mode–whether you’re trying to survive with anger, sadness, or anxiety.  

And we can do that with a few, simple and practical mindfulness meditation practices.
